Seoul and Hong Kong
Easter trip to the East
For Easter I travelled with my brother Stefan, also an avid photographer, to Seoul and Hong Kong for a couple of weeks. A trip of photography, food, sightseeing and experiencing new cultures.
A week in Seoul is not enough to really explore and get deeply in touch with the culture. It was a bit like Japan in the sense that it was very much different from what you are used to but yet very comfortable to be in. Industrious, down to earth and with a lot of depth to it, was my feeling. Much more to explore there, I think.
Hong Kong was more compact and simpler. More modern than I expected, and probably getting more so all the time, but still with a lot of lively markets and neighborhoods. Nice place to visit as a tourist for a few days, and probably great for an extended period if you are working there.
We managed to fit in a day trip to Macau, via a high speed ferry. It’s basically like Las Vegas, all about the kitschy hotels and casinos. Been there done that.
For photography I mostly used the Fujifilm XT5 with the 16-55mmF2.8 and 23mmF1.4 lenses. The light was not good, kind of muddy except for a couple of days.
